A recorder for acoustic stringed instruments, in particular for acoustic guitars, has a body (1) of foam with open pores that can be inserted into the sound hole of the instrument and clamped inside the sound box, with parts of its lower surface touching the bottom of the sound box and parts of its upper surface touching the cover of the sound box. The foam body (1) has on both its front surfaces ridges (2a, 3a) with a conic cross-section that are in linear contact with the cover or the bottom of the sound box. The foam body (1) can also have an annular shape with a throughhole. Channel-like hollow spaces are provided in the foam body (1), containing specially oriented microphones (14). The electronic parts associated with the microphones (14) can be arranged inside or outside the foam body (1).
