PURPOSE:To permit formation of a high-quality positive image with distinct discrimination of the image by subjecting a diffusion transfer type heat developable photosensitive material to heating and developing in the presence of water. CONSTITUTION:The water is supplied to the diffusion transfer type heat developable photosensitive material before or after exposing and thereafter, the diffusion transfer type heat developable photosensitive material is superposed on an image receiving material in such a manner that the photosensitive layer of the diffusion transfer type heat developable photosensitive material and the image receiving layer of the image receiving material are respectively held in tight contact with each other. The diffusion transfer type heat developable photosensitive material is subjected uniformly to exposing over the entire surface in the stage when the development is substantially not progressed during or after the water supply stage after the color image formed imagewise on the diffusion transfer type heat developable photosensitive material is diffusion-transferred to the image receiving material by subjecting said photosensitive material to heat development. The volume of the water to be supplied is preferably in the range of at least 0.1 times the weight of the total coating film of the heat developable photosensitive material and the image receiving material and the weight of the water corresponding to the max. swelling volume of the entire coated film. The high-quality image is thus reproduced by the simple method. |
