<p>The modified hirudins have the primary structure of hirudin truncated at the N-terminal end by up to 2 amino acid units and at the C-terminal end by up to 18 amino acid units. The modified hirudins can be used to inhibit blood clotting in humans and mammals, to conserve blood and as reagent for the analytical determination of thrombin.</p>
