PURPOSE:To ensure the running stability of a vehicle at the time of steering and improve response characteristics in the succeeding reverse steering operation by controlling a steering device in such a way as to steer rear wheels inside and outside a turning circle toward a toe-in direction in steering front wheels. CONSTITUTION:When lateral acceleration has become, for example, 0.2G or more at the time of front wheel steering, a signal of electric power supply ON is outputted from a controller 24 to variable orifice 17 and open/close valves 18, 19 and 21. And the orifice 17 regulates the pressure of hydraulic oil discharged from an oil pump 10 to the predetermined level and the open/close valves 18 and 19 are made to open, while open/close valves 21 and 22 are made to close. Consequently, hydraulic pressure is supplied to each hydraulic pressure chamber 7 of hydraulic cylinders 4L and 4R, and both right and left rear wheels 1R and 1L are steered toward a toe-in direction. Therefore, a cutting effect due to lateral acceleration is alleviated and running stability is enhanced. Also, when front wheels are steered toward a reverse direction, the response of rear wheel steering to front wheel steering is not delayed, as a rear wheel outside a turning circle is already steered toward a toe-in direction in the preceding steering operation. |
