PURPOSE:To make it possible to obtain a low-energy consuming and compact quadrupole particle accelerator by using a superconductive coil for a coil which otherwise consumes a large part of electricity. CONSTITUTION:Quadrupole electrodes 1-4 are insulated through insulating matters 5 for direct current from an accelerating tube 6, and a resonance circuit consisting of a coil 7 of inductance L and a variable capacitor 8 of capacity C is disposed outside the accelerating tube. The output of an oscillator 9 is amplified by an amplifier 10 and then supplied to said resonance circuit through a coupling coil 11. The coil 7 is made of superconductive material and contained in a low temp tank 12. Said low temp tank is driven by a power source 13, and its temp is kept lower than the superconductivity critical temp Tc of the coil material. Thus the coil is made superconductive, and electric consumption can be eliminated at the coil which otherwise consumes a large part of a supply of high frequency current.
