PURPOSE:To improve the restarting characteristics of an engine by increasing the starting fuel injection rate according to the passing time from the engine stop time to the restarting time. CONSTITUTION:The signals from various sensors and an ignition switch are sent to a controller 4. The time passed from the turn-off point of the ignition switch to the next turn-on point thereof is counted and the restarting fuel injection rate is increased when the counted time is longer. Thus, the fuel is supplied in accordance with the thickness of fuel stuck to the internal wall face of a cylinder to prevent fuel from overrichness and overlean, whereby improving the restarting characteristics.
