<p>1292137 Polyester coating composition DYNAMIT NOBEL AG 5 Nov 1969 [8 Nov 1968] 54334/69 Heading C3R A polyester coating composition comprises a linear, high-molecular weight polyester containing no ethylenic unsaturation, up to 30% by weight of a benzoguanamine resin and, as catalyst, a mineral acid or a monoalkyl- or arylsubstituted mineral acid or a salt of one of these with an inorganic or organic nitrogen base. The polyester may be derived from iso- and/or terephthalic acids and optionally an aliphatic dibasic acid having 6-10 carbon atoms and a dihydric alcohol of formula HO(CH 2 ) n OH, where n = 2-10 or 2,2-dimethyl propanediol-1,3. In the examples, a composition is prepared from a butylated benzoguanamine-formaldehyde resin and a copolyester prepared from (a) iso- and terephthalic acids, 2,2-dimethylpropanediol-1,3 and ethylene glycol and (b)-as in (a) with the addition of sebacic acid. The composition is dissolved in a solvent (e.g. ethylene glycol monoacetate, butanol and, possibly, xylene), ground with TiO 2 pigment and mixed with a solution of the morpholine salt of p-toluene sulphonic acid in benzyl alcohol.</p> |
