The method for sterilising temperature-resistant rigid containers, in particular glass containers such as glass bottles, then filling them with products and subsequently closing them is carried out in a germ-free atmosphere which is closed off from the surroundings up to an outward transfer. During this process, for their sterilisation the containers are heated by radiation heat up to the sterile temperature and, prior to being filled, are shock-cooled in contact with shaped cooling surfaces down to the filling temperature.
