PURPOSE:To effectively utilize a memory by storing a teletext signal as brightness signal into a picture/memory while omitting chrominance information. CONSTITUTION:A television video signal inputted from a television video signal input terminal 1 is subjected to extraction of a teletext signal by a data clock generating circuit 4 and converted into a digital signal. Then a program data per 1Vd is stored in a packet buffer 7 via a BEST 6. A program data stored in a packet buffer 7 before the next Vd period is subjected to picture processing as brightness information while omitting chrominance information by a main CPU 9 and transferred to a picture memory 15 and stored. As the processing above, it is executed at the Vd period and the program data of a teletext is stored in the picture memory 15. In selecting an object program number by a remote controller 30, the program data is extracted from the picture memory 15 as the brightness information and the designated program is displayed by a black/white picture.
