The invention relates to an apparatus for applying foamed aqueous solutions or dispersions to sheet-like textile structures, having a sensor for recording the speed of the sheet-like structure and a pressure doctor which is provided with a foam-feed line coming from the foam-forming apparatus, the output of the sensor which serves for recording the speed of the sheet-like structure being connected to a correcting member for setting the desired value of the throughflow of the liquid, and the output of the correcting member being assigned a comparator having an adjustable reference-signal level. The object of the invention is by simple means to ensure, if possible without an additional use of chemicals, that, despite a low consumption, the foam occurs at the nozzle in a fresh state which can be processed to an optimum degree. According to the invention, the pressure doctor is assigned an outlet valve which is connected to the output of a comparator by means of an actuating and regulating system.
