The invention relates to a device for protecting high-voltage transmission masts, overhead-line masts of electric railways, etc. In particular, this device is to prevent the destruction of such masts by means of saws. This is achieved according to the invention in that there are fitted, at the possible cutting points of such masts, tubular housings in which round-steel bars, positioned one above the other, are introduced. Steel balls are located between the planar ends of said bars, the lower planar end of the respectively lowermost round-steel bar likewise resting on a steel ball. Located above the respectively uppermost round-steel bar is a final steel ball and, above this, in each case one closure which is non-releasably inserted into the housing. Housings, round-steel bars and steel balls are hardened and constitute an extremely high degree of resistance to saws. If motor-driven and rotating carbide-tipped saws, etc., are used for sawing off a mast support and saw through a housing, then the saw makes contact with one of the round-steel bars. The latter, for its part, begins to rotate under the pressure of such a saw, this resulting in a loud screeching noise which acts as a deterrent. <IMAGE>
