PURPOSE:To obtain a satisfactorily flexible optical fiber bundle by forming the section near both end parts in the lengthwise direction into an approximately circular shape and forming the section in the other parts in the lengthwise direction into a sheet shape. CONSTITUTION:An optical fiber 1 consists of a core and a clad whose refractive index is lower than that of the core, and a skin a pipe 2 consists of a hollow glass pipe, and plural optical fiber 1 are cut by a prescribed length and are bundled, stored, and close packed in the skin pipe 2. At this time, the section of this optical fiber bundle is circular as the skin pipe 2. Thereafter, the optical fiber bundle is drawn and has the diameter reduced to obtain an optical fiber bundle which is unified by sticking partially or throughout in the lengthwise direction. The obtained optical fiber bundles is heating again and the side face having at least a prescribed length in the lengthwise direction of the skin pipe 2 is pressed and crushed to form the section of a part 4 having the prescribed length into a sheet shape. Thus, the radius of allowable bend is reduced.
