PURPOSE:To obtain a mark having definition comparable to that obtainable with a conventional TiO2-containing composition on the surface of, e.g., glass while preventing the sticking of plating material to a mark, by forming a marking composition from a base material consisting of a powder of glass having a specified softening point and a powder of specified white oxides. CONSTITUTION:This marking composition is formed from a base material containing 30-85wt.% powder of glass having a softening point of 350-680 deg.C and 70-15wt.% powder of at least one compound selected from aluminum oxide, zirconium oxide, and zirconium silicate to give a total of 100wt.%. If required, an inorganic oxide in an amount of 20pts.wt. or less based on 100pts. wt. of this base material is incorporated therein. Examples of the inorganic oxides include glass-forming oxides, such as SiO2, PbO, CaO, and B2O3, for the adjustment of the degree of softening of the glass powder and oxide pigments of, e.g., Cu-Cr-Fe base (black) and Al-Co base (blue) for coloration.
|
