摘要 PURPOSE:To reduce the total length of an engine and improve the strength of a crankshaft by setting the camsprocket gear parts on the front and rear side banks of a V-shaped engine, on the rear and front sides from the boss part. CONSTITUTION:The banks 4 and 5 of a cylinder block 1 are arranged, longitudinally shifted in the crankshaft direction, and an offset space 7 is formed between the front walls 4a and 5a of the banks 4 and 5. Camshafts 10 and 11 for driving the intake/exhaust valves of the cylinders are supported onto the cylinder heads 2 and 3 of the banks 4 and 5, and chain belts 12 and 13 are laid onto a cam sprocket 14 installed at the front edges of the camshafts 10 and 11, and the turning moment of a crankshaft 6 is transmitted. In this case, as for the cam sprocket 14 on the front side bank 4 and rear side bank 5, the gear part 14b is fitted onto the camshafts 10 and 11 so as to be offset on the rear and front sides from a boss part 14a. Therefore, the total length of the engine can be reduced.
