PURPOSE:To develop a sintered alloy having excellent strength and corrosion resistance, having the small friction factor and suitable for various bearing materials, by compounding specific ratios of brass and bronze powders with a solid lubricating material to iron powder, subjecting the compounded powder to compacting and sintering the same in a reducing atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:The brass powder and bronze powder having <=80 mesh are added to the iron powder having 150-250 mesh to form the compounded powder contg. the compsns., by weight, of 45-65% Fe, 30-45% Cu, 4-12% Zn and 1-5% Sn. One or more kinds among <=5% graphite powder, Pb powder, Mo powder and MoS2 powder as the solid lubricating material are added to said compounded powder and compounded therewith. The compounded powder is then subjected to compacting and thereafter is sintered in the reducing atmosphere at <=900 deg.C, by which the sintered alloy having the excellent strength and corrosion resistance, having the small friction factor and suitable for the bearing materials can be obtd.
