PURPOSE:To convey a workpiece which has an arbitrary shape and from which several thin metal sheets are obtained, by delivering the workpiece onto a delivery table provided with free bearings, after cutting and separating it, and by determining the clamp position of the rear end face of the workpiece with the use of a device for recognizing the condition of the workpiece. CONSTITUTION:A workpiece 7 cut by a cutting device 1 is delivered onto free bearings 3 laid on the upper surface of a delivery table 2, and is recognized in its cutting condition by an image processing device using a camera recognizing the cutting condition so that the end face clamp position is determined. The workpiece 7 set on the free bearings falls into such a condition that the end face thereof may be clamped. The positions of the free bearings are registered in the image processing device and therefore, the interferes thereof may be avoided. A clamp device 6 attached to a moving device 5 which is movable in the longitudinal, crosswise and heightwise directions, clamps the end face. Then the surface of the workpiece which is parallel with the free bearings 3 is moved, thereby it is possible to move the workpiece 3 having an arbitrary shape.
