PURPOSE:To display the sentences in a display area after allocating them evenly and in a good balance by calculating the optimum character sizes which are visually matched with each other based on the display area and the sentence blocks stored variably. CONSTITUTION:A sentence input part 1 divides a sentence into blocks of optional data length and an area input part 3 decides a display area where the output sentence blocks are displayed. These parts 1 and 3 are stored in a sentence memory part 2 and an area memory part 4 respectively. A character size calculating part 5 calculates the optimum character sizes with which the sentence blocks are visually matched with the display area and displays these character sizes in the prescribed display areas of an output display part 6. Here the optimum character sizes are calculated based on the sentence blocks and the display area which are stored variably. Thus the sentences and their layouts can be freely changed. Then the sentences can be displayed within a designated display area after allocating them evenly and in a good balance.
