Antideprssants, 2-phenoxyalkyl-1,2,4-triazol-3-one, are prepared. For example, 50% sodium hydroxide solution (430.6g) is added into the stirred solution of 1-(3-chlorophenyl) piperazine hydrochloric-acid- salt (502.0g) and 1-bromo-3-chloropropane (339.0g) in water (435ml)- acetone (535ml) solvent at 0-10≦̸C . The reaction product is separated and concenturated, followed by dissolving in hot dilute hydrochloric acid, and then, 66% 1-(3chloropropyl)-4-(3-chlorophenyl) piperazine hydrochloric-acid-salt (438.4g) is obtained.
