PURPOSE:To reduce the deterioration of transfer performance depending on the running performance of a thermal transfer recording medium and to enhance a printing quality to a low-surface smoothness paper to be subjected to transfer, by a method wherein a thermal transfer colorant layer contains a modified silicon compound and a polyoxyethylene compound. CONSTITUTION:A thermal transfer colorant layer provided on a substrate is normally formed by dispersing a colorant in a hot-melt substance and/or a thermoplastic resin. A modified silicon compound and a polyoxyethylene compound are contained in the thermal transfer colorant layer. As the modified silicon compound, a normal modified silicon compound can be used, but an alkyl-modified silicon compound etc. is used in view of the compatibility and lubricating properties of the modified silicon compound. The content of the polyoxyethylene compound having polyoxyethylene chains in the molecules is preferably within the range of 1-50 wt.% to the components forming the layer. |
