摘要 PURPOSE:To prevent cracks from being generated at a stem for a cathode-ray tube by making a thermal expansion coefficient of glass which forms a peripheral part be larger than that of glass in a base glass part except for the peripheral part. CONSTITUTION:A peripheral part 31B of a stem is formed of glass which is dissimilar to glass used in the other part in a base glass part of a stem, that is, this part 31B is formed of glass with a large thermal expansion coefficient, which is equal to or smaller than a thermal expansion coefficient of glass which forms a neck tube. The thermal expansion coefficient of glass, which forms a lead wire sealing part 32B and an exhaustion tube part 22 of the stem, is approximately equal to that of a lead wire 23. Thus, the lead wire 23 can be sealed much excellently, and further on the sealed region, distortion is relaxed and no cracks are generated, and so there is no fault upon sealing the lead wire on the neck tube 1.
