PURPOSE:To obtain a polyester composition suitable as drawn and molded articles, drawn and molded hollow materials, etc., having excellent melt moldability, drawing and molding properties and gas barrier properties, comprising a polyester containing a specific polyhydroxypolyether. CONSTITUTION:A polyester composition suitable for drawn and molded articles, drawn and molded hollow materials, etc., consisting of (A) a polyalkylene terephthalate comprising ethylene terephthalate as a main constituent unit and (B) a polyhydroxy polyester which is shown by the formula (R<1> is bifunctional aromatic hydrocarbon group containing p-phenylene group as a main component; n is positive integer), is linear, has 0.3-2dl/g intrinsic viscosity (in o- chlorophenol at 25 deg.C) and <=0.2wt.% nonionic organic halogen content and obtained by reacting a diglycidyl ether of an aromatic diol with an aromatic diol in the presence of a catalyst (e.g. tertiary amine or quaternary ammonium compound) at 70-300 deg.C.
