PURPOSE:To obtain a semiconductor storage device for executing efficiently data transfer, by providing a converting circuit for receiving serial output information and compressing data, and also, outputting serially information encoded by said circuit. CONSTITUTION:Before a column address strobe RAS changes to 'L' a transfer signal DT is set to 'L', and by synchronizing TC with the RAS, a column system address AX is inputted, an operation for selecting and amplifying word line is executed, and in each complementary line of a RAM, a signal corresponding to storage information of a selected cell appears. Subsequently, by synchronizing with 'L' of a row address strobe CAS, a line address AY is inputted, decoded and a selecting signal '1' is inputted to an instructed shift register SR. By a variation to 'H' of DT, phiS is generated, and a signal of a complementary information line of the RAM is sent to a latch FF. Thereafter, by a variation to 'L' of a series output permitting SOE, the ST is shifted and information of the FF is sent in series, brought to compression TBL, converters P/S in series, and outputted from a terminal DS by synchronizing with phiPS.
