PURPOSE:To recover oil left in an oil supplying pipe without any useless oil left therein, supply the oil into an oil tank and save energy by a method wherein purge air is forcedly fed into an oil supplying pipe from an end part of an oil tank of an oil supplying pipe and the oil remaining in the oil supplying pipe is returned back into the oil tank through an oil returning pipe. CONSTITUTION:During a normal furnace operation, a returning valve 10 and an air supplying valve 14 are closed, an oil supplying pump 5 is operated and fuel oil in an oil tank 3 is forcedly fed into a burner 2 through an oil feeding pipe 4, main valve 9 and a regulating plug 8 and then ignited. In order to recover fuel oil remaining in the oil supplying pipe 4 when the combustion is terminated, the regulating plug 8 and an oil stop valve 11 are fully closed and at the same time a return valve 10 and an air supplying valve 14 are opened to forcedly feed purge air from an air supplying pipe 13 into the oil supplying pipe 4. With this arrangement, oil remaining in the oil supplying pipe circulates in the branch part 7 and a return valve 10, passes through an oil return pipe 6 and then is returned back to the oil tank 3, resulting in that the oil remaining can fully be cleared from the piping. Due to this fact, the fuel oil is not consumed uselessly and energy saving can be attained.
