PURPOSE:To provide a compact bearing by opening the one end side of a discharge valve chamber provided in a cylinder and closing the other end side with a closing member integral with the cylinder. CONSTITUTION:A discharge valve chamber 60' constituting a compression element 3 is provided adjacent a compression chamber 34 in the bore of a cylinder 31. This discharge valve chamber 60' is opened on the upper side end face and closed on the lower side end face by a closing member 31a formed integrally with the cylinder 31 formed by sintering or the like. Thus, a surplus flange section to close the discharge valve chamber 60' does not need to be provided on a lower bearing 33', so that a compact bearing can be provided.
