In a bed frame having a head part which can be put up at an angle about a pivoting axis on the frame plane, provision is made for the lower front end of the head part, lying close to the pivoting axis, to be arranged so as to be adjustable upwards out of the frame plane. The adjusting device intended for this can be constructed to work stepwise or steplessly. Consequently, in addition to the known upward-pivoting possibility of the head part, by adjustment upwards out of the frame plane a step-like or platform-like arrangement can be provided. Consequently, an ideal position for the cervical-vertebra region of a sleeping person can be set, and to be precise such that the cervical-vertebra region is supported such that it bends neither downwards nor upwards.
