PRESS ROLLER FOR FIXING AND ITS PRODUCTION

PURPOSE:To maintain desired dimensional accuracy and to permit uniform fixing by forming a skin layer and porous elastic layer of a roller by molding of liquid silicone rubber or liquid fluorosilicone rubber of a thermosetting type or cold setting type of the same material. CONSTITUTION:The press roller for fixing consists the porous elastic layer 2 which is coated around a metallic shaft 1 and the skin layer 3 formed on the front layer thereof. These layers are integrally molded of the same material. The liquid silicone rubber or liquid fluorosilicone rubber of the thermosetting or cold setting type having an excellent toner release property is used for the material to form the elastic layer 2. The material prepd. by compounding solid powder which sublimates, decomposes or evaporates at the temp. higher than the vulcanization temp. thereof with said rubber is packed by an injection device 5 into a metallic mold 4. The material is then vulcanized and molded at the vulcanization temp. and is further heated to the evaporation temp. of the solid powder. The press roller which permits uniform fixing while maintaining the desired dimensional accuracy is thus obtd.
