The invention relates to a process and a device for the thermal welding of connectors to thermoplastic pipes or pipelines, the weld-on connector being pressed with its heated end face radially against the pipe during the welding. To considerably simplify the welding process for such connectors and in particular to reduce the stock holding for the necessary heating elements for welding onto varying diameters, it is proposed that the heat necessary for welding be applied onto the end face of the weld-on connector and onto the corresponding countersurface on the basic pipe by means of a flexible heating plate which can be laid on and the counterpressure necessary for pressing on the weld-on connector is applied directly through the wall region, forming the welding surface, of the basic pipe. <IMAGE> |
