PURPOSE:To produce a thermosetting resin tough and excellent in heat resistance, chemical resistance, mechanical properties, rapid curability and moldability, by reacting an oxazoline derivative by heating, in the presence of a specified catalyst. CONSTITUTION:An oxazoline derivative of formula II (wherein n is 2-4, R is an n-valent aliphatic, alicyclic or aromatic hydrocarbon group, and R may be a direct bond when n=2) containing at most 30mol.% monooxazoline compound of formula I (wherein R<1> is a monovalent aliphatic, alicyclic or aromatic hydrocarbon group and Ra-Rd are each H, a 3C or lower aliphatic hydrocarbon group or a 7C or lower aromatic hydrocarbon group) is mixed with 0.01-20mol.% catalyst selected from among a proton acid (ester) (e.g., methyl p-toluenesulfonate), a Lewis acid (complex) (e.g., TiCl4), an alkyl halide (e.g., methyl iodide) and iodine, molten by heating at 170 deg.C or below and reacted at 170-300 deg.C for 10sec-60min.
