Vertical flaps (2) of elastic material are mounted transversely in front of the wheels of a vehicle. Each flap, which closes the gap between the underside of the vehicle and the ground, causes an area of high air pressure to its forward side and low air pressure inside the wheel arches (4). This prevents the expulsion of dirt from the wheel arches, thus keeping the sides of the vehicle clean. Leaf springs (5) hold the flap vertical, preventing loss of efficiency due to deflection at speed. |
