PURPOSE:To calculate the size or shape accuracy of the tip part of a tool from a measurement result by inputting a measured value of the end surface of the tool by a line sensor at each angle and measuring the axial maximum value of the tool by a touch sensor on the prolongation of the axis of the tool. CONSTITUTION:A measurement sensor 14 is equipped with the line sensor 41 and touch sensor 45. This sensor 41 detects the length (r) of a light shield part 44a in a measurement area 44 to know the position of the end surface at the measurement position. Further, the movement quantity until the tool 1 is moved axially to contact the touch sensor 45 is detected to know the axial maximum value of the tool 1. Consequently, the size or shape accuracy of the tip part of the tool is calculated.
