PURPOSE:To enable the arranging space of a harmonic speed reducer and its related machineries to be compacted, by reversing the conventional arranging relationship between a circular spline and a wave generator in a harmonic reduction ratio. CONSTITUTION:The gear 1a of a circular spline 1 is formed on the outer circumferential surface of a cylindrical body, and is fitted so as to correspond to the gear 2a of a flexible spline 2 having gear teeth on the inner circumferential surface of cylindrical body whose number is greater than that of the gear 1a. Further, a wave generator 4 on which an elliptical inner circumferential surface is formed so that the gear 2a of the flexible spline 2 can be restrained in an elliptical form and that a part of gear 2a can be engaged with a part of gear 1a of the circular spline 1 is fitted. And, when the wave generator 4 is turned, while the flexible spline 2 is subjected to an elastic deformation with the rotation, the tooth of the gear 2a thereof engages with that of the gear 1a of the circular spline 1 one by one, so that the reduced speed rotation can be transmitted in a predetermined reduction ratio. In this constitution, a free space S can be formed in the central part of the shaft. |
