PURPOSE:To carry out the friction amount measurement safely and easily, by installing a roller to roll on the upper side of a trolley wire at an end of an insulating holding pole, and detecting the position of an insulating detector rod which is given a force to contact to the lower side of the trolley wire, with an electric signal which is displayed at hand. CONSTITUTION:A holding pole 4 is made of an insulating material, and an insulating base plate 5 is installed at its upper end. A roller 6 to roll contacting to the upper side of a trolley wire 1 is installed to the base plate 5. Moreover, a detector 7 is installed to the base plate 5, and a detector rod 8 is furnished to the detector 7, given a force to contact to the lower side of the trolley wire 1, whose up and down movement is detected by converting the brightness of the light permeating between a fixed slit and a sliding slit into electric signals. Such signals are input to a display of the holding pole 4 at hand, the thickness of the trolley wire 1 is measured, and the friction amount can be found continuously from the variation of the thickness. Therefore, the device can be operated safely from the ground, and the friction amount can be measured easily.
