PURPOSE:To simultaneously or almost simultaneously make round and forging stock both tip parts of a U-shaped head part by holding the U-shaped head part of a forging stock section so as to stride over the center part of a fixed edge, and moving a pair of movable edges in the direction approaching each other from both its sides. CONSTITUTION:A steering yoke forging stock section W3 is fitted to a fixed edge 2 in a state that its U-shaped head part W30 is set to the lower side, and set in a striding over state. In this state, when the upper bolster 10 is allowed to descend in the lower direction by a driving device, the forging stock section W3 is inserted and held by the fixed edge 2 and a holding member 4. When the upper bolster 10 further descends, the upper block body 50 and a block body 52 descend, and a sliding block body 53 is pushed in the direction as indicated with an arrow A by an inclined part 520. As a result, a cutting edge of a movable edge 3 held by the sliding block body 53 hits impulsively against the outer wall surface of both end parts of the U-shaped head part W30 of the forging stock section W3, the tip part is punched so as to make round, and a punched piece W33 drops down.
