PURPOSE:To realize easy attachment of a key lock collar onto a steering shaft without decreasing the antitheft property of a car by engaging a sphere between the steering shaft and the key lock collar. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical key lock collar 8 is fitted around a steering shaft 7. The bore dimension of the key lock collar 8 is slightly larger than the external diameter of the steering shaft 7 so that they are fitted snugly to each other. The steering shaft is provided with a recess 10 for receiving a steel ball 9, while the key lock collar is provided with a cylindrical receiving hole 11 with a diameter equal to or slightly smaller than that of the steel ball 9. The steel ball 9, which is previously shrunk by cooling, is pressed into the hole 11 to be implanted within the recess 10 of the steering shaft 7. Since the steel ball 9 expands as it regains its normal temperature, it can be fitted tightly in the recess 10. |
