PURPOSE:To surely perform a color conversion by detecting whether each of inputted color signals expresses a color within a prescribed range or not, and outputting either the specified color signal or the inputted color signal. CONSTITUTION:A Y-signal among color three primary colors is inputted to comparators 1, 2. When Y1 is designated as the color to be converted, the upper limit value TH of Y is set in the comparator 1 and the lower limit value of the Y is set in the comparator 2, in accordance with the value of it. The comparators 1, 2 output '1' respectively when YH>Y, Y>=YL in respect of the Y-signal, and it is inputted to an AND gate 7. Accordingly, when YH>=Y>=YL, '1' is outputted from a three-inputs AND gate 10, and the outputted signal is used as the selection control signal of a selector 11. The selector 11 receivers the output signal of the gate 10 and when YH>=Y>=YL, i.e., when the signal is judged to be of the designated color, is selects the specified color signal SY, and in other case, it selects and outputs the inputted Y-signal itself.
