PURPOSE:To restrain the generation of vibration by providing such an arrangement that when the operation of a dash pot limiting the closing speed of a throttle valve is detected, the direct coupling between the output shaft of an engine and a speed change mechanism is released. CONSTITUTION:When a dash pot arm 57 makes contact with a dash pot spool 61 in association with the closing of the throttle valve 54, such contact is electrically detected and is delivered from a wire 64 so as to turn on a dash pot switch 45. With this arrangement a solenoid valve 40 is turned on through a relay 44, and therefore, a lock-up clutch 15 is operated by means of a lock-up control valve 30 so as to release the direct coupling between the output shaft 5 of an engine and an automatic transmission 1. Thus it is possible to release the lock-up clutch with no delay in timing even though a dash pot is provided, and thereby it is possible to restrain the generation of vibration.
