PURPOSE:To process small films in a cylindrical tank wherein an irregularity in development is small by providing a pair of free engagement and disengagement members which engage each other when elastic sides are curved with the surface inside to make the other two sides close to each other and hold the curvature of the elastic sides to the two opposite sides different from the elastic sides. CONSTITUTION:A holder 10 is spread in a natural state and a specific number of sheet films 50 to be developed are mounted between claws 24 of bridge plates 20 in a curvature charged state. Then a projection piece 30 and a receptacle piece 40 are gripped with fingers and put close to each other so as to round the elastic pieces 14; and the projection piece 30 is pressed with a finger head and inserted into the window 42 of the receptacle piece 40 and the finger is moved away from the projection piece 30 slowly to shape the holder 10 in a cylindrical shape. This cylindrical holder 10 is inserted into a development tank 52 and a lid is put on. Then developing operation is started and the development tank is held horizontal and rotated to carry out operation from development to fixation or washing. Consequently, only a small amount of liquid developer is required and the liquid developer contacts the sheet films 50 uniformly, so an irregularity in development is hardly generated.
