PURPOSE:To obtain liquid-impregnated granular foam glass having an effective liquid of long-acting or slow-acting property, by eluting a soluble alkali content from a granular foam glass to give pinholes in the glass and impregnating the effective liquid. CONSTITUTION:A granular foam glass having small water absorption properties is immersed in water or an alkali solution and a soluble alkali content is eluted from surface layer of the granular foam glass and a foam wall in the granular foam glass to give pinholes in the surface layer and foam. An effective liquid such as perfume, fertilizer or herbicide, is impregnated into a granular foam glass after dealkali treatment to provide the liquid-impregnated granular foam glass. The granular foam glass used is in the range of 0.05-0.70 specific weight, 40.0-75.0% water absorption and 1.0-50.0mu central pore size. When an aqueous solution containing an effective chemicals such as perfume, fertilizer or herbicide, is impregnated into the granular foam glass having physical properties in these range, perfume, fertilizer or herbicide, etc., effective for a long term can be prepared.
