<p>4-methylpentene-1 (I) is prepared by the dimerisation of propylene in an inert hydrocarbon in the presence of (a) a Li catalyst (as claimed in the principal patent BE.624,937) and (b) 0.5-50% moles (based on Li) of condensed aromatic hydrocarbons(s) (II). (II) is pref. naphthalene. Addition of (II) improves the selectivity of the dimerisation and prolongs the catalytic life.</p> |
