PURPOSE:To perform automatic printing on a continuous business form and on a slip, by automatically retracting the continuous business form and automatically performing a process for the slip when a slip command is received, and automatically loading the business form when the business form is in a retracted condition upon receiving a continuous business form command. CONSTITUTION:A printer comprises a printer-controlling circuit and a printer mechanism part. When a slip drawing-in command is received, a printer controlling circuit checks whether a continuous business form is set, and when the continuous business form is set, the circuit executes a process for retracting the continuous business form and then a process for drawing in a slip. When a printing or line feeding command is received in the condition where the slip paper is discharged, it is checked whether the continuous business form is set, and when the business form is not set, the business form is automatically loaded, and is line fed to an initial position, followed by executing the printing or line feeding command received.
