ZEOLITES IN POULTRY NUTRITION

Laying hens given zeolite A at <= 4% of their feed will have improved egg shell quality and thus improved overall usable egg prodn. Thus, hens given a corn-soybean meal-based feed contg. 0-1.5% zeolite A show little difference in egg prodn. but has improved egg shell wts. are 5.04-5.35 g/egg with feed contg. 0.75 or 1.50% zeolite A as compared with 4.91 and 5.22g/egg with control feed. Zeolite A is pref. (NaAlSiO4)12.27H2O.
