PURPOSE:To obtain an Al-alloy material excellent in durability, lightened in weight, and having high surface friction coefficient, by allowing the grains of intermetallic compound between Al and second-phase metal elements uniformly dispersed in an Al-alloy matrix to partly come out to the external surface of an Al-alloy material in a projected state. CONSTITUTION:The second-phase metal elements such as Ti, Cr, Mn, V, Fe, are added to an Al alloy by about 5-30%, so that grains 2 of the intermetallic compound composed of an compound of Al with the above additive elements are practically uniformly dispersed at least into the surface part of an Al-alloy matrix 1. The resulting Al-alloy material A is subjected to surface treatment such as etching treatment, using hydrochloric acid, etc., so that a rough surface is formed by allowing the above intermetallic compound grains 2 to partly come out to the external surface of the Al-alloy material A in a projected state. It is preferable that the above exposed grains 2 are distributed at a rate of 10-50% area ratio. In this way, the lightweight Al-alloy material reduced in material deterioration with the lapse of time, having high surface friction coefficient, and having no possibility of causing property deterioration due to sticking of foreign matters can be obtained.
