PURPOSE:To compensate FM reproduction frequency characteristics against the head characteristic difference caused by the difference of outputs between high and low bands by providing a means which sets a fixed peaking value via each head and changes the mixing ratio between the signals of the route set at the HPF side and those of the route set at the LPF side. CONSTITUTION:The reproduction signal received from a video head 1 is supplied to an equalizer circuit 3 via a preamplifier 2. The circuit 3 has the peaking value set at a fixed level regardless of the characteristic difference among heads and compensates the frequency characteristics of a transmission system. The output of the circuit 3 is led to a branch point P via an AGC amplifier 4. In other words, the level of the signal received from the route set at the LPF side is lowered less than that of the signal received from the route set at the HPF side. As a result, the low band difference is reduced on the route of the LPF by an amount equal to the low band difference allowed by an equalizer means. Thus the reproduction outputs of different frequency characteristics are demodulated by each head and the clear pictures can be reproduced with no variance of picture quality.
