PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF SOLVATES OF BECLOMETHASONE 17,21-DIPROPIONATE

Di-isopropyl ether solvates of beclomethasone 17, 21-dipropionate (I) are prepd. by dissolving (I) in an organic solvent, and adding the di-isopropyl ether to a soln. of the steroid. The solvates of (I) avoid clogging the metering valve of an aerosol because they are substantially bulk-stable in both non-micronized or micronized forms. Aerosols can contain the solvate and a propellant gas, e.g. trichlorofluoromethane or dichlorodifluoromethane. (I) is used in the treatment of asthma.
