PURPOSE:To uniformize cooling for a metal sheet and prevent deformation of the sheet by installing an overflow type laminar nozzle at the center between adjacent upper rolls and a water sucking device for the water being in adjacency of the upper rolls. CONSTITUTION:Upper rolls 12 are installed to be vertically movable against lower rolls 13 through a lifting device and upper and lower cooling water nozzles 21, 20 are installed at the center between the rolls 12, 13 respectively. In that time, a slit nozzle part 21b of the upper nozzle 21 injects cooling water so that over flowed water is formed into a laminar jet flow. Further, a water sucking device 32 consisting of a sucking pipe 25 and a sucking nozzle 26 is installed at the center between the upper rolls 12 and sucks and removes the cooling water. Cooling of a metal sheet 11 is uniformized and deformation of the sheet 11 is prevented because the cooling water forms a laminar flow and the sucking device 32 flatly flows the cooling water on the sheet 11.
