NEW MATERIAL:The perfluoroalkenyloxybenzoic acid derivative of formula I (X is 6-14C perfluoroalkenyl). EXAMPLE:p-Perfluorononenyloxybenzoic acid allyl ester. USE:Useful as a raw material for thermoplastic or thermosetting resin having water-resistance and heat-resistance and a modifier for allyl resin and alkyd resin, etc. PREPARATION:The compound of formula I can be produced e.g. by reacting a perfluoroalkenyloxybenzoic acid of formula II with allyl alcohol in a solvent (preferably benzene, etc.) at about 50-200 deg.C (especially about 70-160 deg.C) in the presence of a conventional esterification catalyst (e.g. boron trifluoride ethyl etherate and optionally in the presence of a polymerization inhibitor (e.g. hydroquinone).
