PURPOSE:To prevent damage from being given on the fast rotation of a disk or a pickup mechanism, by monitoring a mirror signal whose level is varied by the presence/absence of a track, detecting the deviation of a pickup to a mirror part, and moving the pickup in an opposite direction. CONSTITUTION:A controller 7 monitors a bit of time information representing the track position of the pickup 1 out of information from a signal processing part 4, and also, supplies an instruction of track jump to a servo control part 6. s for the mirror signal generated at a mirror detection circuit 8, the positions of the pickup 1 go to opposite levels at a track part and the mirror part. The controller 7 performs the time management of it, and when it is judged that the pickup 1 arrives at an inner or an outer peripheral mirror part, a recovery instruction is issued to the servo control part 6, and the pickup is moved immediately in the opposite direction. In such way, it is possible to prevent the damage from being given on the fast rotation of the disk or the pickup mechanism.
