PURPOSE:To accelerate the transition of a mode among the recording, the reproduction, and the erasure of information and to shorten a processing time, by starting the generation of a magnetic field before the positioning of an optical head is completed, at the time of recording and erasing the information. CONSTITUTION:When a mode is shifted from a reproducing mode to a recording mode, an external magnetic field generating device 5 is driven by a magnetic field generating system driving device 51 by indicating a track and a sector numbers. The device 5 starts to move to a track position, and also, starts to generate a magnetic field. In parallel with the above, the positioning of the optical head 3 is started, and when the positioning is completed, an external magnetic field has been placed under a stable state. The transition from the reproducing mode to an erasing mode is performed similarly. Therefore, when the recording, the reproduction, and the erasure of the information are performed successively, the transition among each mode can be performed rapidly, and the processing time can be shortened. |
