PURPOSE:To obtain an intestine-conditioning agent effective in promoting the proliferation of bifidobacterium in intestines and exhibiting intestine-conditioning effect, by using a water-soluble polysaccharide as an active component. CONSTITUTION:Rice bran, wheat bran, corn husk, etc., which are by-products obtained in the polishing of cereals are defatted with a solvent such as n-hexane and extracted with an NaOH solution in a vessel substituted with nitrogen gas to obtain a water-soluble polysaccharide. After removing residues from the extracted liquid by centrifugal separation, etc., the liquid is neutralized, deproteinized with an ion exchange resin, properly desalted and added with ethanol to obtain hemicellulose (B). Since hemicellulose (B) powder is a tasteless water-soluble substance, it can be taken in the form of tablet or drink or by mixing the substance as it is to a food. |
