PURPOSE:To improve the wear resistance and low thermal conductivity of high temp. casting by heating granular addition agent by arc heating, dropping on semi-molten metal pool and stirring the semimolten metal pool by electromag netic force. CONSTITUTION:A cored wire 7 is formed by filling up the granular addition agent 9 in the metallic small cylinder having the same composition as the cast ing 5 and is supplied between one pair of electrodes 1, to heat by the arc heating. Then, DC current 10 is intermittently conducted between the electrodes 1 and the semimolten metal pool 6, to generate the intermittent electromagnetic force F in the semi-molten metal pool 6. In this way, the metal pool 6 is stirred and the addition agent 9 is uniformly dispersed in the semi-molten metal. There fore, the wear resistance and low thermal conductivity of casting 5 producing by solidifying the semi-molten metal pool at high temp. is improved.
